Divisions

Cheer Evolution reserves the right to combine divisions according to genre and like ages to facilitate a competitive division and the most positive competition experience for all involved.

Senior Group 15 yrs and older 4+ Male/Female

*Dancers must be in this age category as of August 31, 2015 for the 2015-2016 competitive season.


Rules

General Guidelines

  • Maximum time limit for all dance routines is 3:00 minutes
  • Routine’s exceeding the maximum allowable time limit for the division will be deducted 10 points.
  • Dancers may not compete against themselves in any age division or category in the same dance form (e.g. If a performer has 2 pom solo’s they may perform one routine in the next age group up).
  • Illegal elements will receive a 5 pt deduction per occurrence. If multiple dancers execute the same illegal acrobatic element in synchronization, only 5 points will be deducted.
  • Unsportsmanlike conduct or inappropriate/suggestive music or dance style may result in disqualification or a deduction from the score at the discretion of the legality judge.

Pom Specific Guidelines

Characteristics of a pom routine include synchronization and visual effects, clean and precise motions, strong pom technique, and incorporate dance technical elements. Visual effect includes level changes, group work, formation changes, the use of different color poms, etc.

  • Poms must be used 80% of the routine.
  • Acrobatics without hand support through the inversion are illegal (i.e. aerials, tucked flips are illegal).
  • Illusions, front and back rolls/walkovers are allowed.
  • Lifts are permitted provided that they do not incorporate cheer style stunts (i.e. double base preps).
  • Lifts may involve inversions if at least one dancer is directly supporting the head and neck area of the inverted dancer.
